Diving the Cooper River on charters offer each of our divers an opportunity to take a small piece of Charleston’s historical past back home with them.

The river is rich in historical events, in the Charleston, SC area the Cooper River was the main avenue for travel to the heartland of Carolina’s.

Being one the country’s earliest settlements, it has seen the beginnings of the American Revolution, the Civil War and states succession attempts, and the sinking of the American war vessel Houstonic by the submarine H.L. Hunley.

When traveling to the dive sites we’ll pass along banks of the river that were once colonial plantation rice-fields were slavery made the area prosperous from the indigo and rice trade.

Also the river rich in fossils from various periods of history has made the Cooper River a popular dive destination for fossil hunters adventurers seeking the treasured Megalodon teeth.
